Shell Pearl

Shell Pearl is made from the inner lining of an oyster shell, also known as the mother of pearls. The substance is ground into a fine powder, shaped, dyed and coated with a natural pearl nacre layer, and then coated with a protective coating to give it lustre. Shell pearls vary in quality, but we only use the best quality ones at River Pearls. Shell pearl often looks perfect in terms of shapes, colour and match-ability, and are much cheaper than river pearl of the same quality. Furthermore, the industry’s strict quality control ensures shell pearls that maintain their colour and lustre, and are not affected by sweat and perfume. They are more durable than cultured pearls and freshwater pearls.
